Guidelines for the Relationship between Womencan and Corporate Partnerships.
Overview
Womencan (www.cbcn.ca) seeks partners for new ventures with non-profit and for-profit organizations that will be mutually beneficial, further womencan’s mission to add to and improve the information on the womencan site. The following basic principles are suggested; they should be regarded as issues to be addressed during a review of a proposed partnership, rather than absolute rules.
Procedures
Partnerships involve building relationships over a number of years. The Executive will be responsible for monitoring ongoing partnership activities on an annual basis as well as reviewing new partnerships as they are proposed. The Executive will evaluate each new partnership and the proposed activities if it is a major departure from existing types of partnerships or activities, and make a recommendation to the Board of Directors, which will make the final decision based on these Guidelines.
Any Board member or other individual involved in the process of review will declare her/his conflict of interest where it exists and excuse themselves from the discussion.
Where there is a contractual agreement, potential liability of womennet should be addressed by womencan’s legal advisors in their review of the proposed contract.
It is expected that:
- The partnership will benefit women using the site and be respectful of women at all times.
- The activities undertaken together will meet the ethical and social responsibilities of womennet.
- The goals and objectives of the partnership will be compatible with womennet’s.
- Partnerships will avoid endorsement of specific products.
Any financial obligations or risks associated with partnerships will be clearly defined. - When reviewing new partnerships, consideration will be given to the implications and impact on existing and possible future partnerships.
- Partnerships will adhere to womencan’s policies and procedures on volunteer confidentiality.
- The use of womencan's logo by a partner will be with prior written permission only.
- womencan will be prepared to disclose publicly any responsibilities to the partnering organizations or corporation.
